Some of the good

Bees

Texas Persimmon

Turks Cap

Some see bees as bad because they sting. Just don't steal their honey and you should be fine!

Turks Cap

Texas Persimmon

Turks Cap

Small edible berry that tastes close to that of an apple.

Beauty Berries

Texas Persimmon

Texas Persimmon

Delicious medicinal tasting berries.

These are some of my favorites! There are many persimmon trees at Broken Oak. You'll find ripe fruit around November.

Some of the bad

Copperhead Snakes

Copperhead Snakes

Copperhead Snakes

While we don't see them often, they're out there! Snakes will typically leave you alone unless you bother them.

Coral Snakes

Copperhead Snakes

Copperhead Snakes

Look long and hard at the picture. If the red touches the yellow, that's a Coral snake! If the red touches the black instead, you're ok Jack.

Poison Ivy

Copperhead Snakes

Poison Ivy

You'll occasionally see Poison Ivy on the ground or climbing trees with large hairy vines. Don't touch this stuff! Even if it's dead it can still cause a rash.

Rose Hedge

Copperhead Snakes

Poison Ivy

Roses aren't bad, but this stuff certainly is! It was brought here from Asia to form hedge fence between properties. Turns out, it's super invasive. You'll see clumps of this thorny stuff everywhere.
